Girlscouts, public group classes, and price increases…

Up until May 2020, I taught “in person” GIRLSCOUT BADGE classes only around St. Louis. Since Covid, I can now teach them online nationally. These classes exploded for me and I’m scrambling to adapt as I am consistently fully booked a month ahead now. Part of this adapting includes offering a new type of class to compensate, and some price increases on a couple of other classes…

When the Girlscout classes first went online in May, getting word out across the country was slow. By November things picked up. By December things picked up A LOT. By January, I was overwhelmed. Get this, teaching these GS classes between January 1st – March 7th of 2021, I will have TIED the entire number of GS classes I taught for ALL of 2020, and even then the total classes in 2020 broke my record by five from the previous year.

Yes, you read that right, and it makes my head spin just thinking about it. God turned the spigot on full power and I’m seriously having trouble keeping up. With that said…

NEW TYPE OF CLASS: ONLINE PUBLIC GROUPS
The more GS classes I teach, the less space I have for my private ONLINE CLASSES. (You may have noticed?) I now have a new way to even the situation out…STARTING…..NOW!

I now offer ONLINE PUBLIC GROUP CLASSES that have pre-scheduled dates/times with a set class schedule. You can check this schedule out anytime months in advance. Teaching privately one on one and in groups is still happening, but this will allow you to get in a class sooner and not have to schedule months in advance like some people have done recently.

Each class will hold a maximum of ten students.

February will start slow with just one HOW TO DRAW CARTOON DRAGONS (Ages 6-11) class, but in March I will be teaching TWO more HTD’s along with my BEGINNER KIDS COMIC WORKSHOP (Ages 8-11) course. In April I’ll also throw in my ADVANCED KIDS COMIC WORKSHOP (Ages 12++) course and a couple more HTD classes. Eventually down the road I’ll also add CHARACTER DESIGN and my GENERAL DRAWING SKILLS classes. Check out the full schedule HERE.

Having all these pre-scheduled classes will help several growing pains I’m having, and more importantly, will allow you to get in a class sooner rather than later. With these changes, I also need to implement a couple price increases on my PRIVATE classes. This is the first time I’ve ever done that since I started teaching five years ago.

PRICING CHANGES (ONLINE PRIVATE CLASSES)
KIDS COMIC WORKSHOP SERIES: No Change
CHARACTER DESIGN: No Change
HOW TO DRAW CLASSES: +$5 (to $15 per child per 30 minute class)
GENERAL DRAWING SKILLS CLASSES: +$5 (to $20 per child per 30 minute class)

PRICING CHANGES (ONLINE PUBLIC GROUP CLASSES)
KIDS COMIC WORKSHOP SERIES: (see below*)
CHARACTER DESIGN: (see below*)
HOW TO DRAW CLASSES: $10 per child per 30 minute class.
GENERAL DRAWING SKILLS CLASSES: (see below*)

*EARLY BIRD DISCOUNTS (for KCW, CD, and GDS classes only)
Each class’ registration will open a month before the first day of class. The sooner you register for my KIDS COMIC WORKSHOP, CHARACTER DESIGN, and GENERAL DRAWING SKILLS classes, the more you will save. These pricing changes will compensate for larger class sizes and me not being able to give as much individual attention as I would if it were a private class.

If you have any questions about anything above, or if I wasn’t clear, please CONTACT me about it. I have been tremendously blessed this past year, and I know this will open doors for a lot of other things later. Thank you parents, Girlscout leaders, and especially God, for all of this happening!

  1. Todd Tevlin is punctual, organized, funny, and great with kids. Our troop had a great badge making experience with him. The kids loved it! Highly recommend
