INTRODUCING, THE COMIC WORKSHOP SERIES

Todd TeachingAnd now, for something completely different… sorta, and by sorta, I mean, not really. I mentioned a few weeks ago that my Advanced Kids Comic Workshop course is ending in regards to public group classes. Post pandemic, interest in it has fizzled out entirely, and I’ve lost a lot of money renting space trying to have class. I think I’ve come up with an alternative to make this work…

After a lot of research in regards to what I teach, I think much of this problem is due to the current economy. No one wants to spend $120 for a comic course for their kid when money is tight. What I do is often the first thing parents will drop to save money. (As a parent, sadly I get it.)

Because of this, I decided to try something completely different, and as I mentioned before, not really. (It’s more of a pivot.) I have gone through the Advanced comic course and broken things down into individual classes on specific topics. This way if someone wants to learn a specific topic, they can do it and not spend a lot of money.

What this has also opened up is that I can now promote these classes to adults who may be interested. I always promoted the Advanced course as aged 12+, but I’ve only ever taught one adult in the last eight years or so. I would love to change this and start teaching adult classes as well.

SO, with all of that said, my first foray will be at Betty’s Books with my new COMIC WORKSHOP SERIES. Each class is one hour long and aren’t connected to one another. There no longer is a project that spans from one week to the next, so you can bring your own comic projects to apply what you’ve learned.
