As the year comes to a close, I would like to review 2017 about my art and classes, and what you should expect for 2018. Also, the 2018 Spring class schedule is here! I will have it plugged into my site later on this week, but for now it’s listed in this post…
2017 IN REVIEW
Making THE NOVEL NEIGHBOR bookstore my home base for teaching weekend classes went great! I was able to teach three times more classes this year than the previous. Also, my GIRLSCOUT CLASSES have gained traction and I’ve taught just over double the amount I taught the year before.
Unfortunately, this year I had three classes I lost money on due to lack of signups. I also over extended myself and introduced too many brand new classes, resulting in the Girlscout Digital Movie Maker badge getting put to the side as well as some After School classes getting pushed to 2018.
WHAT WILL CHANGE FOR 2018…
One trend I noticed was that my HOW TO DRAW MONSTERS class was barely getting sign ups this year for some reason. Starting in 2018 the class will no longer be a two week class and will downgrade to a one day, one hour class. Hopefully that will entice more families to sign up since it’s not as big of a commitment.
The age range of my HOW TO DRAW CHARACTERS three week class will drop from 10+ to 9+.
I will also introduce a couple brand new classes but overall I will not over extend myself like I had in 2017. NOVEL NEIGHBOR will still be my home base, and I will work on new ways to advertise my classes so I can get more kids from outside the Webster Groves area. If you could do me a favor, please tell all your friends and family about my classes and give them this site’s URL, I would be eternally grateful for it!
I am also toying with the idea of turning my KIDS COMIC WORKSHOP series into a video course that I would sell online. Right now I’ve only been able to focus on St. Louis classes, but this will allow me to reach more kids outside of that. This is still in planning stages so no idea when this will happen.
AFTER SCHOOL CLASSES
This week I plan to start contacting elementary schools to get my After School classes there for the spring. Stay tuned!
Lastly, I want to thank each and every one of you who supported me by having your child in one of my classes. You don’t know how much it means to me! Thank you!!
