Come see me at St. Louis Comic Con in two weeks!

Todd wearing Firefly hatTwo weeks from today (June 18-19th, 2016) I will have a table at the St. Louis Comic Con in St. Charles MO (That’s in the northwest STL area for those out of town), and it’ll be my first convention in almost two years. (EEP!) I’ll have plenty of things to sell, including a BLOW OUT sale on all my FRIK comic volumes (clearing inventory so I can print the Vol 1-4 anthology book), my new comic THE NORMLINGS, and hopefully several new “Frik’in Cosplay” drawings! (requests?)

Also for sale will be my HOLES IN IT comic, my Demotivational Posters and on the side I will have promo info for my KIDS COMIC WORKSHOP. Hope to get enough interest to have a class out that way. Please stop by my table and say hi! (Jayne hat may or may not make an appearance.)

THE NORMLINGS are live!

The Normlings Are Live!I’m happy to say that my newest comic, THE NORMLINGS is now live on my site for you to view! It will have a limited run online and at the moment new episodes will appear every Tuesday. There’s a chance I will up that to twice a week but I need to figure out if I can handle that or not long term.

“But Todd”, I hear you say inside my head, “I want to read the entire first issue NOW!” For those who are eager to jump straight into the full comic, I’m still waiting to get issue #1 back from the printer, but it will make its debut at the ST. LOUIS COMIC CON on June 18-19th and will be $5 a piece! Of course when the time comes I will sell it online as well in my STORE.

I currently have enough scripts written for Issue #2, but I have yet to jump on sketching anything yet as I’m trying to play catch up on everything because I did my marathon run finishing Issue #1 for print a couple weeks ago.

A problem every artist faces…

I normally don’t post things on my site like this, but I felt this one is important enough to share. Below is a link that perfectly illustrates the problem artists face when someone wants them to work for free.

I don’t know when or where this mental shift occurred, perhaps it has something to do with Arts funding being cut from schools over the last several decades and that has led to an under appreciation for the craft, but this country has a problem with artists and in particularly paying them for work. The vast majority look at artists as hobbyists and not someone who has a viable career, despite the massive amounts of time and money to get them to that point.

I think this feeling is worse now that we have the internet, because people just go online and save images off of some artist’s site and then uses them on their site or prints them out to hang it on their wall, and the artist doesn’t get one cent from it. People still want art, they just don’t take art seriously enough to want to pay for it.

It’s really frustrating to say the least! Please take a look at this!

What IS The Normlings?

The Normlings Cover for printMany of you may be wondering what my new comic is about, and this article will try to cover as much as possible without spoiling anything. Of all the comics I’ve created, this one is probably the hardest to nail down in terms of “what it is.” I can say it’s an experiment of sorts, something very fluid and ever changing.
