Over the past month or two many parents have contacted me about public group classes but never would consider private one on one classes. I wanted to give an update on this type of class, because it’s happening enough where I feel I need to address it.
For the past two years, I have lost a lot of money trying to hold public group classes. The locations I use charge a rental fee, and I have to have X number of kids to break even or to make a profit. Over these two years, I have had several classes cancelled due to lack of signups, or I would lose money because I couldn’t break even. Before the pandemic I could fill a room, now I can barely get a couple of kids in at a time.
The service I offer is one of the first things that parents chop when the economy is bad, and right now I am feeling that full on. Taking one of my PRIVATE or ONLINE classes removes this rental fee, so I make more money as a small business, but more importantly, your child gets one on one tutoring/teaching, which is not something guaranteed if I’m teaching a large group class.
I have no idea when I will return to public group classes but will be monitoring the possibility frequently. If your child really wants to take my classes but you’re set on it being a group class, perhaps get your child’s friends together and hold a PRIVATE GROUP CLASS instead? Thanks for considering!
