FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
PORTFOLIO OF DRAWINGS KIT
Can we have more than one drawing per page?
Yes, but two or more drawings need to be drawn on same paper as you are only submitting 6-7 files.
Can we have a drawing on the front cover?
Yes, but it will be smaller and “unframed” so that the book title and name will fit on the page.
Will the final booklet have just a drawing on each page?
No, I will add a picture frame to each drawing as well as put the title and year it was created, which is info you will provide when you submit the files.
What if we don't remember the year or if there's no title?
Most of the time kids will have names/titles for their creations, but in the event they don't, that's perfectly already. Just let me know and I won't include that on each page.
What if we really want the final booklets to be in color?
It can be done, but an additional charge will apply due to higher printer costs. The instruction sheet you get with your kit will explain how to move this forward.
Is it possible for our child to ink their drawings?
Yes, absolutely!
SUBMITTING FILES (ALL KITS)
How do we submit our finished files?
You will be provided in your kit a sheet with submission information. I give you a specific website address to upload your files to.
How do i get these finished drawings/comics to you?
Included in the kit are instructions on how to scan or take photos of your child's artwork. It will also include submission instructions.
What if we have technical issues submitting files?
Please CONTACT ME and we'll work it out!
Can we use a camera flash to take our photos?
It is not recommended to use any camera flash because the middle of the photo will be brighter than the outside edge, which will make it harder for me to correct when creating the booklets. To get the best look for each page, either use a flatbed scanner or go outside and put each page under full sunlight. We need to lessen bright spots and shadows as much as possible so that the images look their best for the booklets.
GENERAL KIT QUESTIONS
Turnaround time to receive our books?
My goal is 2-3 weeks, but it may be faster depending on my class load. I will update you throughout the process.
What is the booklet size and paper weight?
The final product you will receive will be 5.5"x8.5" and printed on 32lb paper.

Can our child color their drawings/comics?
At this time I am only offering black and white prints. They can certainly color their drawings, but the final product will look different. In the kit is a section about what colors look like after being converted to black and white so they have an idea of what colors do what.
Can we order more prints in the future?
Yes! I will retain your files for one year. Future orders must be in increments of five. You will need to CONTACT ME to order prints in the future as there is no option to buy them separately through this store.
Can we buy the files to print on our own?
Future orders must be placed through me for the first year, but after that time, I will offer you the option to buy the files so you can print them out yourself.
Is this a replacement for taking your comic classes?
Absolutely not. You child will learn so much more in my comic classes than with this kit. The base KAPOW kit, for example, has no teaching material in it at all.
Our child has taken your classes before, is there any discount for buying these kits?
Sorry, this is a totally separate thing so I can't do that. The skills they learned in my classes, however, can be used for this and will help them make even better artwork!
Is there a time limit to finish this kit?
Not at all, they can take as long as they need, but if they aren't done in two months, then there's a high chance they won't finish it at all. You may need to push in and help them schedule time to work on it as there are no refunds.
Although these kits aren't designed to teach your child how to make comics, if they have a stumbling block preventing them from finishing it, please CONTACT ME. At the very least I may be able to offer guidance and moral support to help them finish!
Our child won't finish it, are there refunds?
Unfortunately that is not possible, sorry. I am willing to help, however, in trying to find the cause of why they won't finish it. Sometimes there's an obstacle in the way they can't verbalize to you (like not understanding how to write a story, etc), and if we can find the cause, we can help them succeed in finishing the comic. Please CONTACT ME
if this is the case!
Do you offer consultation services to help children create comics not involved with these kits?
Besides having your child take one of my COMIC CLASSES, I don't really offer a service like this, but CONTACT ME anyway and we may be able to work something out.
We don't live inside the USA/CANADA, can we still purchase this?
Please CONTACT ME! I'm not certain if we can make it work but I'll try. The biggest obstacle with this is additional shipping costs and the conversion from USD to yours.
