FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Yes, but two or more drawings need to be drawn on same paper as you are only submitting 6-7 files.

Yes, but it will be smaller and “unframed” so that the book title and name will fit on the page.

No, I will add a picture frame to each drawing as well as put the title and year it was created, which is info you will provide when you submit the files.

Most of the time kids will have names/titles for their creations, but in the event they don't, that's perfectly already. Just let me know and I won't include that on each page.

It can be done, but an additional charge will apply due to higher printer costs. The instruction sheet you get with your kit will explain how to move this forward.

Overall the kit for both age groups is identical with the exception of one part. For the 6-11 year old kit, you get (2) two panel sheets, (2) three panel sheets, and (2) four panel sheets. These sheets are replaced in the 12-18 year old kit with effectively six blank sheets, that they can create their own comic panels with. I have found that these "training wheels" sheets are needed for the younger kids because creating panels can go wrong in many different ways, and I want to set them up for as much success as I can.

Short answer is: Training wheels. Kids who are 6-11 years old often don't have spacial awareness with their art. If I were to let them create their own panels, they will cram 20 panels onto one page because they don't know any better, and the final product will be so small that you couldn't read any of them. By giving them a fixed set of panels, it forces them to work within those constraints, and in the end the art work will be better as a result.

This is my way of having a catchy name for the kits, but ultimately the KAPOW kit is the Base kit, and the KABOOM kit is the Deluxe kit. (KABOOM coming soon!)

The KABOOM kit has more resources, tips, help and other extras. The KAPOW kit is considered the Base kit and the KABOOM is the Deluxe.

I limit the number of pages to prevent the child from being overwhelmed. For the KAPOW 6-11 year old kit, their story will span 18 panels, and for the KABOOM 12-18 year old kit, it will be much higher than that. Adding more panels for the younger kit increases the chance they'll not finish the comic. Also the prices shown are specifically tailored to six pages.

This PDF is not meant as a way to make your own print copies of the comic, but as a way to pass it on digitally, whether as a gift or to sell.

I must emphasize there are no guarantees with this kit. Heck, there's no guarantee that MY comics will sell at any particular comic convention, and I've had tables at several cons over the years already. This kit provides your child with the tools to understand what they need to do, and gives insights like their sales pitch, bookkeeping, and other "at the con" topics. I take a lot of the guess work out of this equation for you based on my years of experience, but in the end, this is just a guide, and your child has to put the work into it to make it a success for them.

The ten page compendium included in this kit is an A to Z guide, helping with everything you need to know about getting a table at a convention as well as what to expect at the convention itself. Also included in the kit are extras like learning about bookkeeping, what supplies you should buy for your table, and a guide that helps you beyond this kit if you choose to start creating your own full length comic books.

IN ADDITION, your child will have access to me personally throughout the course of them creating their mini comic that comes with this kit. Not only will they be able to contact me via email about any problems they're running across while making it, but I will also meet up with them regularly on Zoom and will guide them through every step of the process to ensure that they make the best product they possibly can!

This is NOT a replacement for my comic classes, however, as the length of time will be too short for each meeting. This is primarily used as a way to keep them moving forward in a positive manner, that way they don't run into a road block later that may derail the entire project, and in turn, them stopping work on it all together.

The goal of the Comic Con Prep Kit is to get their work on a table at a comic convention. There is a guide included in the kit that sets them up beyond this kit, however, and it teaches them what they need to do to start creating full length comic books.

No! This kit will go into every detail about getting into a comic con, and the information it contains is valuable to everyone regardless if they've had previous experience or not.

No, I do not offer that service, but the ten page compendium that is included in this kit will walk you through the steps you need to do to make it happen!

You will be provided in your kit a sheet with submission information. I give you a specific website address to upload your files to.

Included in the kit are instructions on how to scan or take photos of your child's artwork. It will also include submission instructions.

It is not recommended to use any camera flash because the middle of the photo will be brighter than the outside edge, which will make it harder for me to correct when creating the booklets. To get the best look for each page, either use a flatbed scanner or go outside and put each page under full sunlight. We need to lessen bright spots and shadows as much as possible so that the images look their best for the booklets.

My goal is 2-3 weeks, but it may be faster depending on my class load. I will update you throughout the process.

The final product you will receive will be 5.5"x8.5" and printed on 32lb paper.

At this time I am only offering black and white prints. They can certainly color their drawings, but the final product will look different. In the kit is a section about what colors look like after being converted to black and white so they have an idea of what colors do what.

Yes! I will retain your files for one year. Future orders must be in increments of five. You will need to CONTACT ME to order prints in the future as there is no option to buy them separately through this store.

Future orders must be placed through me for the first year, but after that time, I will offer you the option to buy the files so you can print them out yourself.

Absolutely not. You child will learn so much more in my comic classes than with this kit. The base KAPOW kit, for example, has no teaching material in it at all.

Sorry, this is a totally separate thing so I can't do that. The skills they learned in my classes, however, can be used for this and will help them make even better artwork!

Not at all, they can take as long as they need, but if they aren't done in two months, then there's a high chance they won't finish it at all. You may need to push in and help them schedule time to work on it as there are no refunds.

Although these kits aren't designed to teach your child how to make comics, if they have a stumbling block preventing them from finishing it, please CONTACT ME. At the very least I may be able to offer guidance and moral support to help them finish!

Unfortunately that is not possible, sorry. I am willing to help, however, in trying to find the cause of why they won't finish it. Sometimes there's an obstacle in the way they can't verbalize to you (like not understanding how to write a story, etc), and if we can find the cause, we can help them succeed in finishing the comic. Please CONTACT ME
if this is the case!

Besides having your child take one of my COMIC CLASSES, I don't really offer a service like this, but CONTACT ME anyway and we may be able to work something out.

Please CONTACT ME! I'm not certain if we can make it work but I'll try. The biggest obstacle with this is additional shipping costs and the conversion from USD to yours.
